This finish needs a base coat and then different colored glaze on top that will be blended together slightly. You will need some latex satin white paint or eggshell and then you will also need two different tones of a creamy light brown, one a little darker than the other. You will also need untinted glaze to mix the creamy light brown with. To apply the finish you need some tools such as, a couple of 2 inch nylon brushes, 3/8 inch nap roller sleeve in a 9 inch length, a cheesecloth, and 2 inch painters tape.

The parchment technique is one of the simplest techniques in faux finishing. It works best with neutral colors such as cream and golden tones or light browns.

This finish is great for smaller rooms like bathrooms and if you Want to take even more of the guesswork out? Then find a professional painter who will give you great guidance for your faux painting project.

Painting Ceiling With Paith Roller

Painting Ceiling With Paith Roller

As we all know that room painting is important to improve the look and value of the room. But do you know if you are going to paint a room then from where you should start, from walls or from ceiling ? Today I would like to share my experiences.

While painting a room first paint the ceiling. Ceiling and walls are the easiest surfaces to paint. By using a proper roller you can apply paint quickly. You should use an extension handle for the roller  you are using to reach the ceiling. If you are using ladder make sure that your paint tray is attached to it’s utility shelf. You can wear goggle when working overhead with roller. It will protect your eyes from paint drop. Go slowly with the process. The faster you move the roller, the more paint will spray off the cover. Always try to do this job during day because natural light is the best for this job. Always try to do job in the small sections. It reduces the possibility of visible roller marks on the surface before it’s completely painted.

After that start wall painting. First paint the outlines of walls and ceiling of course with a brush. Use diferent brush angles to paint narrow edges or corners. Start with a diagonal stroke followed by back-and-forth strokes. Use roller to smoothen the brushed paint. Then apply vertical and horizontal strokes. So it’s easy. You can finish your job perfectly with these steps.

Paint Roller

Paint roller plays an important role while painting job is going on. Paint work with a roller is less exacting than working with a brush. The paint process with a roller is comfortable for a novice painter, he can feel it in just a few minutes.

First moisten the roller with water for latex paint or the appropriate thinner for different types of paint. You have to roll out the extra moisture on a piece of kraft paper or scrap lumber. You should not use newspaper because the roller may pick up the ink. After that you have to fill the well of the roller pan about half full, and set the roller into the middle of the well. Then pick up the roller to roll it down the slope of the pan. Just stop short of the well. You have to do this process two or three times to allow the paint to work into the roller. Once it done you should dip the roller into the well once more. Then roll it on the slope until the pile is well saturated. When you have overloaded the roller, be known. It drips route to the wall and have a tendency to slide instead of roll across the surface.

You should know the most effective method of painting with a roller, is to paint 2-or 3-square-foot areas at a time. First roll the paint in a zigzag way without lifting the roller from the wall. After that fill in the blanks with more vertical and horizontal strokes. Then finish the area with light strokes that start in the unpainted area and roll into the paint. At the ending stroke, raise the roller from the wall slowly so that it does not leave a mark. Go to the next unpainted area and repeat same processe and technique. You have to start from the below ending edge. At last smooth the new application. Blend it into the previously finished area.

Professional painters suggest that while painting a wall first stroke should be up. If you roll down on the first stroke, the paint might puddle under the roller and run down the wall. In addition to that, be careful about the rapidly use the roller across the wall that centrifugal force causes it to spray.
